On April 3rd 2017, a collaboration with Exceed Network, UJA, and the Sephardic Community Center brought together more than forty young Sephardic community members to learn from Wall Street leader Jeffrey M. Solomon, President of Cowen, as he discussed business and philanthropy. This program was the third in a series of briefings by industry leaders. It brought together young business professionals at Cowen’s conference room.
Mr. Solomon spoke about his career starting as a young apprentice at a large Wall Street firm, the fateful day the market crashed in September 2008 and his deep commitment to UJA-Federation. He described numerous challenges and obstacles in the finance and investment industries and the despair he felt for everyone at his firm on the day that Lehman Brothers failed. He emphasized the importance of listening and learning during these challenges while remaining calm.
After he spoke, Mr. Solomon mingled with guests who were deeply interested to hear about his passions.
A special thank you to the event chairs Jonny Cohen, Gladys Haddad, Allan Levy and Walter Rahmey for their leadership and efforts
